"Hi, I’m Ramsey Taylor.

I am the founder and attorney at Taylor Legal Law Firm, based in Washington DC. I help businesses of all sizes and social entrepreneurs (non-profits) handle their legal needs and everyday challenges, so you can focus on what matters most – your work and your business. My goal at Taylor Legal is to provide your business with fast, efficient, practical legal advice that works in real life, not only on paper."

Before founding Taylor Legal, I spent two decades practicing international business law in the US, as well as Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. I worked in a number of different types of organizations: traditional large law firms and small boutique law firms. I was part of an earlier dot com organization in the late 90s internet boom, and I worked for one the world’s largest and most profitable international energy companies.

During my thirteen years at an international energy company, I gained a unique first-hand perspective on how to focus on ensuring that operations move forward while still retaining legal protections. I handled everything from all aspects of the contract and procurement lifecycle (including being involved in establishing supply chains across Asia) to building new refineries and other large complex projects. My last job focused on supporting the Board through a restructuring of its Corporate Secretariat as it prepared for what will be the world’s largest IPO. These Corporate Governance best practice lessons and experience will help your organization function more efficiently and take advantage of the valuable guidance and experience that your Board Members can provide you as you grow your operations.

I have lived and worked in Europe (The Hague, Netherlands), Asia (Beijing, China), the Middle East (Dubai UAE, Riyadh and Dhahran, KSA) and Washington DC.

I’ve always enjoyed working directly with my clients and business people, helping them advance and seeing them succeed, and this is my vision behind starting Taylor Legal – to work directly with my clients, proactively address their legal needs essentially as an in-house lawyer and help them grow their business.

My passion is to work with people who really care about what they chose to do in life and the impact it has on the world; with people for whom their daily activities are more than just a stable paycheck, but represent a dream, a hope or a goal. I want to travel through life with people who do not let the bureaucracy get in the way of getting things done but who want to succeed on their own merits.

I now run my own firm and the unexpected bonus of opening Taylor Legal is that despite decades of experience and working in many countries, I find I am now always learning new things. I am constantly learning about new technologies that make small firms competitive with the big ones, I learn from clients about their businesses and how to make the world a better and richer place and I learn from other lawyers about different areas of law. I am now better able to put the “whole picture” together, and I feel alive working with my new clients, and I want to make them succeed.

In my free time, I love making wine, drinking it with my wife, reading classic science fiction (Ray Bradbury and Issac Asimov) and trying to teach our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to stop chasing squirrels!

We have all had people lead the way and show us how to be better and more productive people while reaching our dreams. I want to thank Professor Raj Bhala for teaching me how to think, Amjad Ali Khan for teaching me how to serve clients, Andrew Clout for showing me how to be positive, Mel Knotts for how to listen, David Brown for showing me that companies run on cash flow, and my Father for teaching me to do the right thing.
